Alternatively on the other scale, Becker, R (2006) speaks about before the times of Will & Grace, gay characters were not included on screen or more or less, in the late 1980's early 90's, funny sidekicks. He saw it as exclusionary. But these days, many shows are niched for a gay audience, look at the Real Housewives franchise. Haha.
Basically we all have our own niche of interest, its not something that we think others will like just because we do. That could be the same for any culture, subculture or demographic in the world.

I do agree with the idea that narrowcasting is like public relations and would also say marketing as well, as there is always at least one target public to which an organisation will aim to project their message to and this correlation that you have drawn makes it easier for individuals to comprehend and then relate it to the various types of narrowcasting in film or telelvision or radio. Do you think in the world of today we feature exilic narrowcasting still or would you say that we are more focusses on transnational in the narrowcasting approach? Be interesting to know your response!
ReplyDeleteI agree with your opinion that every individuals has their own interest and personal need, the narrowcasting weaken our personal characters and even a culture of nations. Also, I think you gave a excellent definition of narrowcasting. It is easy to see your understanding of the subject within your own definition.
